5 Common Beliefs That Might Be Holding You Back In Video Marketing!
I will soon launch my totally new Internet Video Marketing membership site and wanted to share some exclusive content beforehand. In this article you can learn the 5 common beliefs that are holding people back in video marketing. I have gathered these after working with hundreds of small business owners and helping to get more exposure with Online Video. Hope you enjoy the article. Lasse
Most people have a lot of self-limiting beliefs and doubts when they start making videos. Here are some of the most common ones and how to avoid them.
1. “I cannot do it” – because you need to be an actor to do video marketing
This is one of the biggest mistakes! Today all over the world reality shows are among the most popular TV programs and the reason is that most people want to see the lives of normal everyday people. Also most people using sites like YouTube are tired of actors using scripts when presenting a product or service.
You CAN do it!
And it’s even your obligation to communicate your product or service to your target market using video so that they get a good feeling of what its all about.
2. “My videos need to be perfect”
This false belief comes from the fact that people are used to associating online videos to Hollywood movies which do have to be perfect and well done.
Your videos don’t need to be perfect. They just need to be unique and when created by you..they ARE! If you make a mistake or say something you didn't plan to say, make a joke about it and move on.
Most people are bored seeing “perfect” videos and commercials in TV, that is why they go to Internet video sites where they can see normal everyday people who are just like them talking about products and services
3. “ My first video need to be excellent, otherwise I will quit”
I hear this so many times. Most people think that they first video has to be perfect, when the opposite is true. I have helped many people successfully market their business on YouTube and most of them made below average videos when they started.
The great news is your first video doesn’t have to be great. One of my Internet Marketing mentor Tom Beal says “You don’t need to get it right, you just need to get going”. I highly recommend you follow that advice.
Remember that you can post hundreds of videos to sites like YouTube for free, so your first video doesn’t have to be great. Rather start making and posting videos to YouTube and improve with each video.
Consider each of your video as an asset you have and work purposefully on increasing the number of videos you have. Usually more assets means more results..
4. “Only big companies can do video marketing – I’m a small business owner its more difficult for me”
Interestingly small companies and small business owners have advantages over big companies when it comes to making online video. The most valuable thing you can share in your videos is your story or the story of your product and service.
Most viewers of online video sites and bored of watching infomercials of big companies and want to hear normal people talk about their product or service.
According to my experience small business owners are much more flexible and ready to start making videos that work in YouTube and similar sites than big companies are.
The other great thing is that nowadays you don’t need a high budget in order to start making online videos. You can start with free screen capture program or by making a simply videos using your webcam.
5. “Online video marketing is expensive, technical and hard to do”
Today you can do highly successful videos by just adding some picture, text and music together. Some years ago it used to be expensive to produce a video for Internet, but now you can do it by using cam recorder, digital camera, webcam or even a mobile phone. There are also several screen recording programs where you can record your screen and talk while showing some interesting websites.
The quality of your video is not that important. The main thing is you start to do videos and plan to improve with each video.
Most people I have helped think doing online videos is hard since they think you need to make long 20 minute or more videos. However, the opposite is true as short under 2 minute videos work best normally.
